What is Digital Marketing?
I am sure you must have heard about it a lot and still if you want to be clear that What is Digital marketing exactly, you can refer to my blog in Medium explaining Digital Marketing in layman’s term.
I believe there is not a single business that doesn’t use digital marketing. It is the need for an ongoing trend.
Now, let’s understand why Digital Marketing is so compelling.
Here are some of the reasons WHY YOU NEED DIGITAL MARKETING?
1. Establishes your Brand Reputation
Do your customers know you? Have you done enough marketing? Still, your brand awareness is not created. Let me give an example to explain to you how brand awareness is created. I bought a mixer last week for the brand “Preethi”. I had never heard about the brand but while surfing in Amazon for mixer and grinder this popped up as the best. I searched the internet for reviews on the brand and then I bought it.
Building a brand reputation takes time not much of your money. Money can’t buy Brand Reputation. Production of high-quality products, interacting with your customers on social media networks, delivering what you promise, solving audience grievances and queries immediately are some of the ways in establishing your brand reputation.
Customers will always favor a company with a good brand reputation.
2. Digital Marketing is Cost-Effective
Digital Marketing is cost-effective. I am sure people are curious to know how? If you aren’t still sure, take a quotation for advertising in radio ads and decide on a budget you want to spend on Google ads or Facebook ads. You will see investing in traditional marketing is way more expensive than digital marketing.
You can write free blogs, create free Facebook pages or write regular posts on social media. Now, do you agree is it Cost-effective or not?
3. Enables A/B Testing
This may be a new term for most of you. Don’t worry just click on it and know about it.
A/B testing is basically creating two versions of the same ad maybe with different headings or different call to action button, testing to different sets of people which particular ad works better for a conversion goal.
Traditional
ads like newspaper ads don’t give you this option to test but through digital marketing this is possible. You can check which version of the ad is performing better and immediately pause the non-performing one.
4. Reach your Target Audience
Marketing
is all about reaching the right audience at the right time and right
place. This is possible only through Digital Marketing. You can
understand who your customers are and drive quality traffic, not
quantity of traffic.
For
example, I own a company of Female clothing in the USA. I can wisely choose my audience based on demographics like gender, age and choose the location they are based on while displaying my ad on Facebook. I can choose to display ads to only those who have shown a past interest in clothing or online shopping. Thus, I have saved myself from wasting my money on showing ads to people who are not at all interested in seeing my ads.
It helps you create engagement with your target audience.
5. Digital Marketing Helps You Get More Detailed Analytics
You run a radio ad. Can you determine which people have heard your radio ad and made a purchase based on that ad? IMPOSSIBLE
Marketing
through digital channels helps you with better analytics. You can determine how your marketing activities performed, what was the Return on Investment(ROI) and did you achieve your marketing goal.
You can understand your target audience and with Google Analytics you can get to know about the devices they are using or their demographics. You will understand which audience exited your website without making a purchase or audience who stayed longer, added product to your cart but didn’t complete the purchase. Which landing page had
issues or more bounce rate, where did your audience come from- organic Search or direct or referral, etc.
6. You can start Digital Marketing with a low budget
Yes, you read it right. For small businesses or businesses that are unsure about digital marketing, you can start with a small budget. For example, start with blogging that’s absolutely free, collaborate with influencers, use social networking ads like Facebook ads where you can start with a minimum daily budget of $1, build an email list, set up a Facebook page, etc.
7. Engagement with the Audience and solving their queries
Are
you familiar with people tagging brands immediately on social media platforms when they don’t get resolutions or for their grievances? The audience believes that as soon as they tag a business on social media they will get an immediate response. That’s not wrong because it is about the brand reputation in social media platforms.
It’s
not only about grievances but also about solving their queries or
thanking them for mentioning you. Chatbot, email replies or live chat are mostly used by businesses to solve queries immediately. You can
engage with potential audiences and understand their queries relating to
the product or purchase.
8. Digital Marketing enables Mobile Marketing
Mobile marketing is a part of Digital Marketing that targets audiences who use mobile for information, shopping, reading, etc.
I
I am a mobile shopper. I don’t keep going back to my desktop to check the products if I am shopping. I immediately install apps and then start surfing. Even for reading, I have downloaded Medium on my phone.
You can personalize your website or blogs as to how will they appear on mobiles and reach a larger audience.
Digital Marketing is the current Marketing trend. For all small businesses or start-ups,
it is important to adopt Digital Marketing. You can reach your target audience and avoid misusing funds to non-productive areas. Digital
Marketing is evolving and READERS please stay updated with the evolving marketing trends.
